HE’S GOT NEXT! JACOB LATIMORE!

Charm of a gentleman and talent of a legend, Jacob Latimore is by far our favorite underrated artists of the year. From Radio Disney to RCA Records, Latimore has even graced the silver screen alongside academy award winners like, Forest Whitaker and then some.
While gearing up for a rather game changing audition, we convinced the emerging star to stop by the Be You set and give us a sneak peek into the life of the uniquely talented.
He sings, he dances, he acts, and it isn’t every day that you come across a young man who has people like Rodney Jerkins, Nas, and Kevin Hart as colleagues on their resume before they’re legally old enough to drink. Jacob Latimore has the voice of an R&B star, the acting chops of the next best to do it and can teach your favorite dancer a thing or two. Not to mention, he also happened to be a part of the number one comedy film last year. Proving that every now and then nice guys actually do finish first

BYC: Thanks for taking the time out to shoot with us. Our campaign is more than anything an ode to individuality, what do you think separates you from the heard?
JACOB: I started recording music at a young age because it runs in my family, and I was surrounded by it. All the Latimores’ sing. The Latimore brothers, which includes my dad and my uncles, and our cousin Kenny Lattimore has been doing his thing for a while. My grandfather also sung in his day too.

BYC: You got your start so young. How exactly did that come about?
JACOB: I started recording music at a young age because it runs in my family, and I was surrounded by it. All the Latimores’ sing. BYC: Do you find it difficult to break into a more mature demographic coming from Disney?
JACOB: The transition can be difficult, but as long as you stay true to who you are, people will understand you as you grow.

BYC: Working with so many respected fixtures in entertainment who would you say you’ve learned the most from?
JACOB: Being surrounded by music at a young age, I learned the most from my family. I learned the value of preparation and rehearsal, and most importantly remembering where my gift came from.

BYC: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received and from whom?
JACOB: The best piece of advice I’ve received was from R. Kelly. Stay humble, and you’ll go far.

BYC: Is there anyone that you’d love to work with at this stage in your career?
JACOB: Probably Rae Sremmurd or Young Thug. I’m really into the trap/ down south sound right now.

BYC: If you had to choose one occupation for the rest of your life would it be to sing or act?
JACOB: Music is my first love.

BYC: How has your family played a part in your success?
JACOB: I keep my family close because they have my best interest at heart.

BYC: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
JACOB: I see myself winning some awards in both music and film.

BYC: Do you consider yourself a role model?
JACOB: I’m just a young man living the dream! If I inspire others in the process, that’s a plus.

BYC: What’s the craziest thing a fan has done to meet you?
JACOB: This chick decided to open my car door while we were getting ready to drive off. Its all love.

BYC: How do you want to be remembered when it’s all said and done?
JACOB: I want to be remembered as the young man who gave back to my hometown Milwaukee, WI. Someone who gave people hope, and a platform to showcase their talents because there’s so much talent that doesn’t get seen.
